Re reading this thread I was amazed so many different opinions, and experiences so much knowledge and information. I'm getting closer every day as the contract work on my basement draws to a close I'm starting to really obsess over what I'm gonna do and I'm more excited than ever. I think this thread actually taught me allot about my own love of the hobby and where I'm going from here. Opinions may vary but I'm thinking I'll be a part time breeder for sure. I like the process, the industry people I've dealt with so far in my area and also how it allows me to have a 9-5 at the same time. And last but not least, how it helps me justify all this insanity. I'm going in on this with a friend who has been into fish longer than me so I'm really quite excited. Maybe one day a fish store will even be in the cards. At any rate I'm going to take my time but its kinda nice to know where you're going.

im 17 and im pouring way too much money into my tanks lol it took me about a year to finish my 180 and at this point im well into a grand on just that one tank, but of course i have 4 more :naughty: lol i told myself that once i get my stock that i have now, thats gonna be perfect but of course its not. im looking into getting more bichirs and whatever else my research turns up. money is no longer a problem if i need it im getting it. safe to say im addicted lol last week i worked 40 hours when i should be out doing stupid teenage crap... but im not cuz i need more cash for the hobby :headbang2

Wow you are ahead of me by like 5 years. I didn't break the 55 gallon barrier till over half way through college. I guess I never really wanted to make money until I wanted to spend it. In that moment I realized what college was for. I find I'm similarly addictable to about any hobby but I find fish are the most rewarding.

Its starting, We are running almost 4 months behind but contract work is wrapping up. This weekend the basement should finally be mine at my new place and I can start all over again!!! My house is littered with over a thousand gallons worth of empty tanks and has random setups housing survivors from the outbreak last spring and the occasional aging batch of fry getting ready for sale. I'm out of money and full up on time!!! I'm not traveling I'm not working overtime, its just me, the village and my fish!!! I'm so happy about this thread not only has it helped me feel less like a goofball but some of the stories and knowledge that have popped up have been both inspirational and extremely helpfull.

@mshill90 The super sump if you will call it that will only be powering about 8 or 10 tanks less than half of my total capacity and will basically be providing optimal water quality to my larger 6 ft and 4ft breeding tanks. I'll have 3 other classifications of setups, variable quarantine tanks with UV (No UV on the master sump) probably 200 gallons or more just for incoming fish. I will have probably 500 or 600 gallons worth of 10 and 20 gallon tanks for fry all on Air Sponge filters. And I'll have a Display 265G going up with a unique collection of fish I won't be breeding for a while running its own sump. I'm hoping the contractors wrap up and the village gets off my back about code ASAP so I can get to making this happen!!! mshill90 , I've read and re-read our conversation probably 20 times at this point I never could find Hans discus thread but your feedback has definitely shaped a large part of my knowledge for more advanced disease treatment and prevention. Thanks

Since our discussion I was struck by an internal parasite that took out many fish before I diagnosed and treated it successfully. Check out this its amazing:
