Hello everyone, this is my first post here as I have only been lurking so far. I just got a Jardini and 2 motoro stingrays a couple of weeks ago and have them in a 320 gallon plywood tank (72"L x 34"D x 30"h) with a 60 gallon wet/dry sump and a Fluval 404 filter. The Jardini is about 6" long and the rays are about 8" across. They seem to be doing alright so far, eating shrimp, bloodworm and the occaisional super worm (for the Jardini).

The lfs where I bought them said that they would have no trouble living together but I have read many posts about the Jardini being too aggressive with rays when he (she?) gets older. I could put the Jardini in a 165 gallon tank (72"L x 22"D x 24.5" h) by himself but it might be too narrow.

What is the best solution, chance him with the rays or isolate him in the narrower 165?

Also, how are discus with rays? I was going to transfer the angel fish from the 165 into the 320 but I read that rays like to munch on angels. Would discus be any safer? Any advice from you experts would be greatly appreciated!

The jar would be fine in the 165 for a while, but would probably be better off in a wider tank. As far as keeping him with rays you might get lucky you might not, there's only one way to find out.

i would chance it with the ray if you want them to be together, just watch very carefully. he will be fine in the other tank, though, for quite a while

Depends on your jar if i were you i would put the jar with the rays and let them grow up together to reduce agression towards each other and there's some members here with discus and rays and aros all together

I'd keep the jar with the rays, but keep that 165g open in case something should arise.
