Thanks everyone for the advice. I think that I will chance the Jardini with the Rays as the plywood tank is deeper (34") than the 165 g (22"). They have been okay together so far as they are still kind of small. Hopefully, they'll be alright together since they will be raised together. I don't think that I'll try them with any Discus, though, as the Jardini may pick on them when he gets older.

anyways i wouldn't try discus with jars as the discus as it is are pretty faint hearted
but your tank would look cool wit the current tank mates it self (some nice pics would revive this thread)
from what i hear, the jar will go for anything once it hits that infamous size (~8inches). in addition, the rays wont be isolated to the bottom of the tank. they'll swim up and get tagged. i wouldn't risk it, but they'd be fine until your jar approaches 8''.
