its good but I am a little more paranoid when it comes to how far down I put the canister extension tubes. because if either of your outputs ever came off of your tank somehow, it would drain your entire tank onto the floor, except for 1 and 1/2 inches :)

I keep mine a little higher for this reason..
i put check valves on mine for that reason.

In what way would a check valve effect the output of a canister filter?

no your right on topic , thankyou for your help guys i appreciate i will be poking holes in both my intake pipes and using zip ties to secure the hoses to the brackets instead of the little rubber bands fluval gives you thankyou much for your help

It doesn't matter how long you've kept fish... there's always new stuff in these forums waiting to be learned ;)

You can say that again......I learn something new everyday from MFK. :naughty:

im sorry i forgot to mention i have a plumbed system. i dont really know how a check valve would work on a canister filter. i cant imagine it wouldnt work, try it!!!:D

Maybe read before you comment. A check valve will do nothing to prevent the canister filter from draining the tank if the output falls out of the tank and is laying on the floor.

You're right BD, but lighten up man, no harm meant... no harm done... correction made...

If your putting the return of a canister at the bottom of the tank to increase current on the bottom of the tank a check valve would help if the intake were knocked off the tank...

Same concept as we were talking about, just the other end ;)

Sorry my belief is that if your gonna post something it should be accurate. To many people post here and don't even read what they are posting about.

It sucks to get bad information, it can cause problem or cost money. Why would it be so hard to be accurate

I agree I hate to see half thought out posts... such as giving an answer without a reason for your answer... I just think it works better to correct someone without the harshness. I know you've disagreed with me in the past with harshness when neither of us were wrong, we just disagreed...

Just trying to keep MFK a welcoming place for newer members... :D Big smiles...

PS - Besides, the dude made a innocent mistake... I bet you've made one before ;)
