Can't blame the flounders for that! I think if the puffers have easier access, they might be more apt to attack the meat.

Since I have three, I think I may just crack two and drill one to avoid any contention between the flounders and the puffers.

My fahaka would love to make friends with that fella!

Yeah, there's no way they should get that big. What colour are they? My biggest get a tint of blue (I think from high protein foods I feed them), but stay under 3" for sure. I've had one that just came out of hiding with a bunch of babies and another that just went into hiding. They hide from anywhere between 22-42 days when cloning. Mine don't seem to eat during this period either....:irked:

Here are some pictures. Weird thing is, they are all now hiding constantly. Are these crayfish eggs?

I just bought an entire bag of mussels (1.68 lbs) for <$4.

when i used to own my puffer. I would just have the guys at the fish store. dig me out small snails from there plant tanks. And wouldnt hardly charge me anything. Allso like some one else said. Just tank a small tank. heat it and put in a small filter, or sponge filter and thow a couple live plants in there. The snail will eat the plants and multiple like crazy

I've been feeding a couple gold mystery snails a week with the occasional live crab to keep my 10" Mbu puffers beak trimmed. It eats massivore pellets like they are going out of style the rest of the week. I had tried some market clams/mussles but the puffer was not interested (I cracked them open) at the time but this was the first few days I had it and discovered my SAL was eating the meat before the puffer realized they were there. I might try the market mussels/clams again soon but $6-10 a week for those mystery snails if store bought isn't too bad. You don't need to feed it hard shelled things 100% of the time.

Sounds $$$ to me! I bought an entire bag of mussels for <$4. Try soaking them in garlic to enhance the flavor.

True... A large part of the time, my puffers eat shrimp with the shells on, which although have a little crunch factor, not nearly as much as clams, etc.
