Look on Facebook marketplace in your area. Often people will be getting out of the hobby and let go of bigger systems for much less than in stores.
The down sides of a used tank is you may need to clean them up to be usable, often they come scratched, might need to reseal them. I would highly recommend putting in the work of making sure it is top notch before adding water.
I have some used tanks that have scratches and I just ignored it. Now I can’t stand the scratches because they collect algae and it doubles or even triples my cleaning time. Also it’s hard to take a picture of your beautiful fish because they only stop for a photo op every so often and there is always a scratch in the way messing with your focus. Lol.

A 150 is only slightly, not significantly larger than a 125.
So if you really are serious about P-bass, why waste money on something that is not really that much better, or in the end large enough long term.
You probably need to be thinking 300 gallons or more, to keep P-bass in a proper manner.

said look on Craigslist, OfferUp, Letgo. From time to time grand deals can be found.
My glass 125 was from Craigslist, was new never used tank, homemade stand way stronger than the particle board kind, lights, lids all for $400
There are great deals out there, just got to wait, look for them.

150 was just a minimum number for a big tank and I’m looking for something 200+.
I'm in the UK and in the process of getting an upgrade so I went on local classified ads just to get a feel what's out there tank wise. There's masses and masses of stuff available. Occasionally, as mentioned, you'll get people giving up the hobby or moving house or upgrading what they already have, and as a result they want rid of their gear quick and their eagerness to sell is reflected in the very low asking price. Sometimes you even get giveaways, as long as you go and collect and do all the leg work. I found, that tank wise, glass 4x2x2 and 5x2x2 were the most common tanks for sale with a good amount of 6x2x2 as well, all around your range. If my findings are similar where you are then you shouldn't have any problems picking something up.
Unfortunately for me, although second hand big tanks are quite common, second hand really big tanks are less common so i've hit a brick wall in my hunt.
