Where to buy black sand?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've got the 3M Color Quartz in about 16 of my 21 tanks and it never took me that long to rinse it. Several 125 g tanks, 250 g tank, 100 g, etc. I've got the dark brown, black, plum, brick-red...about every color they make except white. The dark colors stain my hands and arms but it rinses out better than the 1 bag of playsand I tried rinsing in the past.

The 1st one is from a year ago when my Red Oscar was in the 125 g with black sand. I miss him on the black sand. The 2nd one is his 250 g tank now with the dark brown 3M ColorQuartz. The 3rd is the 2 Albino/Lutinos on the plum colored sand about 6 mo ago. Those are a few I've already got uploaded.

And the way you did YOUR tank with the Texas in it looks very nice. One of the few tank pictures I could just sit and stare at :-)

How much did it cost to fill up ur 125gal tank with the black 3m sand? There are only 3m sand in certain states. I looked it up and saw that the vendors are not in california is there any advice you would like to input me with to help me look for good deal cuz that tank with the oscar sure looks clean with the black sand.

If you need a bag of black 3m Color Quartz lemme know. You are in NorCal right?

I ended up using colorquartz that I got local here in anaheim. I used 4 50 lb bags to get a solid 2-3 inch layer in my 180.

Only took me about 1/2 hour a bag to rinse.
