Where to buy large glass tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ask me my opinion, good ol craigslist for a decent used one- or new.. locally around here in Los Angeles there are people who manufacture glass tanks for near wholesale- but personally I'd put the stuff from your current tank into a temp tank while I used GE Silicone I to reseal it, giving proper attention to an even and generous application along all seams.. unless you have a crack or something bigger, problem solved

Unfortunately being in the midwest(Kansas City area) there just aren't alot of big tanks on craigslist. Sometimes but not too often. I have tried to reseal the section leaking. I was just trying to avoid removing silicone in the whole tank. Probably what I will do next, just not looking forward to it.

yea I'm half and half every time I re-silicone.. trick is finding and using one of those caulking tools to make the beads evenly formed along the seams. My fingers never do the job right.

Panes of tempered glass are not that expensive. I don't have a tank that big, but if I did I would have made it myself. You can get much thicker glass and much better silicone. The process can be learned in 5 minutes on YouTube and every town in America has a glazier that would be pumped to sell you some glass.

I think the problem is solved. I just lucked into 4 pieces of 5'4" x 2' at 1" thick glass. Gonna try and make a cube tank like uarujoey just did. Will probably take 2-3 months as I will work on it as time allows. 4 kids keep me running around and broke. LOL
