You live in LA and can't find a good LFS to buy live rock from???

I wouldn't buy 'live rock' online. Unless they ship it in water (would cost a LOT), it's most likely just 'wet rock', with no viable bacteria once it gets to you.

I highly suggest tampa bay saltwater. ships very high quality live rock at a great price.

Why not just order dry rock? Most live rock won't be very live when it arrives, so you pay loads more for half dead rock.

Bulk Reef Supply has an excellent selection of dry rock for pretty cheap.

granted u will have some die off if its not shipped in water but my 75% of the life on my live rock i recieved lived. yes dry rock is cheaper for sure.

I have gotten much better liverock through the mail than I could anywhere in the state of Wisconsin, for a much lower price.

Fosters & Smith sells some nice rock, I stay away from the Florida Farmed stuff.

I have been wanting to try www.saltwaterfish.com 's looks good, and cheap.

In LA I got some decent cured rock at tongs, and the price was good.

I think that florida farmed rock isnt as porous, and it just doesnt have the same growth on it etc. I think that the best liverock is stuff that actually used to be a part of the reef.

As bad as it is to say that, there is a noticeable difference between the quality of my rock, and many other peoples rock, and I think its due to origin.

That being said, my next big tank will be mainly dry rock, most likely from www.bulkreefsupply.com unless I can find a better provider.
