I searched all over the internet and can't find any vendors with festae red terrors. They are amazing looking fish, are they just rare because everyone wants one?

I've never gotten clear answers about Dan's "wild caught" small festae, I have serious doubts they aren't tank or pond bred, as do others I've spoken to about it.

They are around, Dan at " Chiclids of the americas", Jeff at "Tangled up in chiclids" is another importer.
I have orders from Dan. I think he is a straight shooter, I have read these other threads and I think they are BS because they , Who are talking the Bull, are breeding and trying to sell their own. When they are challenged STONE SILENCE.
Dan has told me what he has Fo, F1 of ANY FISH! Ask him, he has nothing to gain buy selling an F1 as an Fo. The only people who are going to call him are fish heads.

I agree with your last statement but all of these vendors including Gage deliberately "lie" about their stock. Every single time I've asked one of them where a certain fish comes from they say "yeah they're F1", when in reality they have no idea. Most of these fish are bred in large ponds and they have no control over what breeds with what (this was discussed in another thread about a piebald zonatus), you might be getting a fish that is 10 generations down the line for all I know.
Gage even sold me a vented "F1 male Umbee" for $40 ($100 including shipping) that ended up being either a female or a very low quality male (compared to the real F1 pair that I got from Freshwaterpredators).
They are 4.5" and 5.5" in these pictures, and the Umbee gage sold me is already 7" and looks exactly the same:
Buy with confidence from Dan (cichlidsoftheamericas) or Jeff (tangledupincichlids). Both are very trustworthy.
