where to find some Oscars in Northern California ?

Wet spot has 4 different kind of oscars on there list at the moment, and are just north in Oregon, and ship, I have had hem ship fish to Wisconsin.
below is their oscar list

The problem with ordering online, is you never know what you will get - color/pattern wise. You obviously want to choose one - and the only way to do that is to see them in person.

For the best color, etc - wait until you find a LFS that has a group of young ones that are already vivid red, not the washed out black/whites. The difference later in age, is markedly better in the ones that are already red as babies, I've found.
Buying 2 inchers versus 4 inchers is all a matter of taste in raising the fish. Honestly - I'd just pick the ones that truly catch your eye and enjoy their development.
I'd love to see pics of the gourami - and yes - you're right - they are very doglike.
 
I miss Capital Aquarium. I bought my oscar from Exotic. They always have a good selection. Regarding whether to buy at 2" or 4" I dont see any real benefit. Oscars grow so fast.
