I was wondering where everyone got their crayfish. I wanna get one for my 10 gallon tank and dont really know a place to pick one up from. I heard about getting them from bait shops but do Petco or Petsmart have them?

Usually we don't carry them because they eat our fish. Occasionally, a pet care department manager will be kind enough to order them for a customer, but usually not. Big stores in cities, like NYC, will carry them because they have enough space for species only tanks with them.

I get mine from crayfishing, ebay, aquabid, online stores, LFS, etc. You can find a lot on the net if you want to have them shipped, but you're in a great state for fishing out a whole bunch of different species from your streams, rivers and lakes.

In TN, I'd say going somewhere local (river, etc) would work fine this time of year. Conversely, you could also try a local bait shop. If you want something crazy exotic (blue, white or other cray) see if your local pet shops can snag one for ya. :)

i have a stream in the woods behind me. would that be a good place to get crayfish??
