Where to get glass?

The hight is the only thing that would concern me and the fact of someone accidentally hitting it and shattering the pain of glass
28 to 30 but I would do 3/4 myself to go any higher it's stretching the limits on the glass in my opinion. I bought a piece of glass 36"× 96" × 3/4 just to be safe mind you it was a wicked deal I got the glass and 2 3" sch 80 bulk heads for $160 in ontario
If you do 30" high 1/2 " will be fine as your glass will sit inside a frame that should cover min 1 in half inch which is 3 inch less your height of the glass so 27 inch viewing panel and just brace the top!
What about 30" viewing panel? Would give me about 33-34" height on the tank as the front board will be 2" bigger around the edges or so.
Do you guys put any type of wood under the bottom of the glass so when the tank is upright the weight of the glass does not want to try and slide downwards?

Build a frame to go around the glass on the inside of the tank that is 1/4" bigger all the way around and find 1/8 shims to set on the bottom of the frame. Makes a nice 1/8 bead of silicone all the way around the glass.
