sorry about the misinformation... i'm friends with all the game wardens around where i'm from and they allways help me out when i need it. i was just insisting that they could direct you to a local hatchery for stocking ponds. i just bought about 100 largemouth bass fry two summers ago from the hatchery in my area. just my two cents worth i guess

sucks its not like that over here in cali. i strongly suggest that you dont consult a warden. the dfg are really anal when it comes to keeping and transporting cali natives.

if you wanna stock up on some ne time hit me up. im on the water at least twice a week.

Here in Canada, you can usually get native fish ie lrgmouth, smallmouth, pike, carp, even snakeheads....you get the picture from your local bait shop. They come in with the minnows and such.
So, maybe you can try your local tackle/bait store

Must be nice. Here in Alberta it is illegal to fish with live fish so you of course can not buy any. That's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lame. Fishing here blows too.I can't wait to get back home this summer.

Look for young fish in small pools off of lakes. My parents have a very small stream which fills with feeding bass in the summer. My dad told me he saw a green minnow eat another minnow so I went over and sure enough, an inch and a half Largemouth. It took me all day to catch it but it's in my tank now about six inches. It has a voracious appetite. I have seen it eat a fish 2/3 it's size. You could see the tail of the fish sticking out of his mouth and the head poking through the back of it's belly.

Cant ask the dnr or wildlife guys here, total pricks, they will bust ya, i dont even tell coworkers for fear word would get out.

But heres my plan, the local bait shop guy is pretty cool, have bouth snapping and painted turtles from him, freshly hatched, blue and red crafish, will ask him, flip him 5 bucks and hes smiling ear to ear. but you gotta kinda know these guys as they can get in big trouble if someone wanted to make them miserable
