Where to get Wels?

Any answers to the poster's question now that he has proven to the fish and tank authorities that he can house what he wants?
 
Like I said, the internet. I doubt any LFS will be carrying wels. Your best bet would be to have it shipped to you.

And I actually just read that they are pretty much illegal everywhere because of the size they reach and there massive temperature range.
 
Actually,sometime last year Jeff Rapps brought a few small ones in.Shoot him a pm and see if he can't get them again.

They're legal in the U.S. still as far as I know; I just checked a few days ago since I was looking into finding one for my pond.

I posted on his forum a few days ago about getting one and said post got deleted, so I don't know if he can get them again...
 
If you do manage to get one I hope you don't have any dogs or cats lol. They can get to ridiculous sizes and eat fish/animals almost as large as themselves.

Then that may mean that they are no longer allowed in the states.
 
My dogs died quite a few years back. Those ponds are on 500 acres of land with no fences anywhere so I wouldnt let any pet of mine roam free around there. And I think I read something about being able to get permits for them but I am still unsure. I couldnt find hardly anything on google. I might ask my LFS owner if he knows anything and if he doesnt I could ask him to see if his supplier knows anything. He is pretty well knowing I can ask him to pick up any specific fish and he will just for me. Even though I dont think that will be the case here.
