That tank looks like a party I don't wanna go to: all males.
Balton, the big festae were all sold and killed by people, like myself, who acted rashly when the price of these fish skyrocketed. Wild Ecuadorians were everywhere, then gone. Watch the same happen with the Peruvians 1-2 years from now.
I will say this though, I wish I had never sold my group of 5 f0's. I had a pair forming, possibly 2, in a mixed species tank. The largest was around 9-10 inches.... My mood is changing as I type, lol.
The worst part is, I NEVER put them alone (amateur move I know).
But, as anyone with big wild festae knows, the offers keep coming and it can be very difficult to hold out forever.

You do see them from time to time. Captain Nemo's in the philadelphia area had some juvies.

I'm a member of several other forums but almost never post at the others...just here. Is that guy still around?

I honestly dont know. I snagged those pics off the forum when I saw them and have had them ever since. I cant find the thread on the one where I thought it was and I dont remember the members name. I was hoping that someone here would see it and know exactly whose it was...and the story behind it, because there was a story. I thought I had pics of the female as well but cant find them. She was much smaller though.

These are some beasts, I can't wait for mine to pack on some more size. He is still too small for your thread Balton, but soon enough he will arrive here. Festae are def my fav fish.

You don't like to attend a 'sausagefest'?
What do you mean by sold and killed by people? I know a lot of Festae get killed by each other while growing out....but did you mean that people just didn't take well enough care of them?

I was offered $600 for my pair but tbh I wasn't even tempted....especially with my male. Because he was born and raised from an egg in my tank, I've become a little attached to him.

Hey thanks for posting the pics though, I loved seeing them. Although if someone does know the story and pipes in, it would be even better.

Yours is about 10" right? By this time next year he'll be at least 12-13" and start bulking up. That's when they're truly awesome imo. Take good care of him :)

The one in the video is so awesome, I wish they had a lighter colored substrate....not a big fan of Festae's colors over black substrate. They're so dark you can't see the golds, greens, and reds and spangles.

Yes, mine is about 10.5" right now. I'm getting rid of half of my fish (some not my choice) in the 265g so the ones I keep can really start packing on some size. I'll end up with about 5 or 6 fish over the next month or so. Next year he should be looking good... 12-13" sounds good to me.

I have been thinking of going with a female for him, but I do not want to get rid of about three others especially my Midas and I don't want to have the pair go nuts on the other fish.
