Where's all the Big Festae?

$600 for the pair!?!?!! Damn our small limited market, I sold my big male for $50NZ (probably around $30US), and I think I would have been pushing it to get more than a hundred bucks for the pair. :(

Saw someone asking $500 for a WC pair recently, hard to find a more in demand fish right now here (that's not super rare).

Yes, mine is about 10.5" right now. I'm getting rid of half of my fish (some not my choice) in the 265g so the ones I keep can really start packing on some size. I'll end up with about 5 or 6 fish over the next month or so. Next year he should be looking good... 12-13" sounds good to me.

I have been thinking of going with a female for him, but I do not want to get rid of about three others especially my Midas and I don't want to have the pair go nuts on the other fish.

If you're wanting to breed him, he's almost at the end of his prime. Meaning the older and larger they get (not that he's overly old or anything), the less sex drive they seem to have...at least ime.

It seemed high to me too, I was shocked when I got his PM with the offer. He said he knew how long they take to grow out, and how difficult they are to get a strong bonded pair, so was very serious with his offer. I guess to people with tons of money that could be chump change. :D

Please post more Big Festae if you have one, know someone who has one, or simply come across a random picture. Thanks.

Here are a few more to add to VRWC's list and as he already stated they belong to the respective owners. The largest Festae I've ever seen is the one here by Brent. Brent, sorry to post him for you, but he is just awesome and I could not resist. One of the others is from Jeff Rapps, which VRWC has already post too and the other male I'm not sure where it came from. I added this female... she is huge looking.

Thanks yall, this thread is turning out awesome. I love the nuchal hump on the F0 in Rapps' photo....and the one in VRWC's third pic from the bottom. Incredible specimens. Jiant, that really green colored one you posted is GreenTerra's Festae. He was talking about selling it not too long ago because it's getting too aggressive, I hope he changes his mind. You hardly see those old school super greens any more....most in the hobby now days are the gold variants. Thanks again for posting.

There are some truly impressive Festae on this thread. the biggest that I've seen in person was at a LFS. A guy brought it in while I was at the store. And it was HUGE! I wish I had taken a picture. Anyway, the owner placed it in a large tank with a much bigger Pacu and the stupid Pacu killed it in like 15 minutes. One second I was walking the isles, admiring the stock, then the next I was staring at this mutilated beautiful male Festae floating at the surface with his entire tail bitten off. The owner wasn't too happy about it when I showed him what had happened. Anyway, keep the pics coming. Great thread, Balton!

That sucks... I would have been pretty pissed off myself.

Unfortunately I have parted ways with my guy. Late last week in fact. I guess sometimes water volume doesn't account for anything. He was getting more and more aggressive everyday. He took out my pearsei unfortunately. That I could have lived with but then he started on the bocourti. That I couldn't have so the hard decision was made. It was probably the hardest choice I have ever had to make over fish.
