Where's Geryi?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd say go for a caribe shoal, more color and more entertaining as compare to others in the list and cheaper too.
geryi is rare and nice to have but they are too expensive, if one get eaten then you are down $$$$, if you have the cash and really want them, go for geryi. but if you ever want to sell them it'll be difficult since not everyone has that much cash for fish and if you sell cheap you won't be getting your investment back.
other serra is just wasting the space in 180g and less you have a very active large rhom.
aimara will out grow the 180g and doesn't sound like you can get any larger tank down the basement so you either build a large plywood one or a large pond.

too cold here for anything but koi in a pond.

caribes grow fast too don't they? they're only 30 bucks a piece. I think dude has a breeding colony at the LFS.

How many in a 180 and will I get bored?

I doubt that the lfs has a breeding colony other wise he could be selling caribes all year round. he has that many stock is probably cuz he ordered them during caribe season. SA also has loads of baby caribes.
anyway, back to your questions.
caribes grow pretty similar to rbps, about an inch a month up to 6-7" then slow down. some might be bigger some might be smaller but you get the idea.
personally I would start with a dozen in 180g.

if he was able to get them to breed, that's awesome and you should find out what's the magic behind it. if you go with caribes then you could also attempt on a breeding project. it's never a bad thing when you trying to get some romance going on down your basement :)

HA! thats where I found them. I guess theyre 360 for me and 300 for you. That guy needs to work on his customer service skills a bit.

You guys are so lucky. The most exotic piranha i can find around here in a LFS is footlong ternz for 200+ bucks.
