Going to be a busy year in California. This year there is more fuel for wild fires!

I am a paid FF, and as far as I am concerned there is no difference. We are no more important than each other. Props to all who volunteer their time. Although I work as a paid FF, I live in a town with vollies. Thank God you guys are here.

How's the economy treating my fellow brothers? I pray for all those who come on hard times. NYC is talking big budget cuts to all public servants. Times are hard. Be safe guys!
 
pay cut for me. a few fellow fire dept around me layed off people.
pay cut for my dad as well
 
we havent had any lay offs as of yet but we are a very small department with 16 fire fighters total. We have left positions open to act as a buffer. I am the newest person on the department and I have been here 2 years, the guy before me was here eight years before I was hired. We have volunteer departments around us but we dont see eachother much on scenes. The county I live in is actually looking at going to a county wide fire and ems system to ensure we have jobs in the future and to strengthen the countys emergency response system.
 
ugh Im on the tail end of a 48 and really ready to go home. We had a busy night last night and today has been all tactical surveys and inspections.

How is everyone elses shifts set up we work 24 on and 48 off with a kelly day every 6 weeks

Oh and I had an idea earlier today anyone in for a patch or T shirt swap just an idea but it could be fun
