Really? I've never heard of palmas' getting that big... 21" sounds insane. I knew mokes stayed smaller, but I didn't realize beutt were that large when full grown. Wow.
Some CB Endlis max out around 14"? Oh boy... you shouldn't have said that. Where are they? :naughty:

Another fact for you. CB sene maybe the smallest bichir now. But the biggest sene ever caught in the wild were from Turkana basin and they range from 16-23 inches. That's my goal on getting a Polypterus senegalus senegalus "Turkana".

As for the 14" endli, you can find them in many LFS today. Mostly came from an Indonesian farm.

What Earl said.
Palmas species, Delhezi, Retropinnis stays also small.

I remember reading something on that... very interesting.

i think im going to go with a del. my lfs only can order dels and ornates so i guess a del would be a good choice.

If you don't mind keeping 14"+ bichirs then go for any palmas complex. Moke is the only best choice that you have if you're going lower than 14" and planning on 9-12". As for the retro just expect 14-16". Biggest beutt that was ever caught is 21". There are now CB endli that maxed out at 14"+. Most LFS carries them. I recommend not to buy wild caught as they have a potential to grow bigger. Go for captive breed as they are mostly dwarf. Even CB del maxed out at 9-10" this days.

Delhezi: cb= 9-11 inches/ wc=10-14 inches
Polli: cb=7-12 inches/ wc=13-15 inches or more
Palmas: No documents on cb/ wc: 13-14 inches or more
Beuttikofferi: No documents on cb/ wc=14-21 inches
Retropinnis: No documents on cb/ wc=12-16 inches
Mokelembembe: No documents on cb/ wc=9-14 inches

endli maxing out at 14? not bad. i think my lfs has dels and endlis mixed up. if i decide to get one, i'll be ordering it as a del but what if it comes out to be an endli??

there are obvious pattern differences between dels and endlis. they are pretty much distinguishable also by their jaws.

so i guess the new bichir buy is on hold right now. i just got a free Odoe, and right now im just trying to get him eating. maybe once i get him on prepared food i'll get a new bichir.

yup i agree. mines with two odeos
