Which bio media would you use?

I have used alot of different media and have came to the conclusion there is no need to spend tons of money on media. Lava rock, ceramic rings, bio home, bacteria house, pot scrubbies, heck even cut up straws for moving bed. By far my favorite media is k1 tho, if I was going to spend the money again after whay I have learned over the years I would make a huge k1 reactor

All good information... I tried the matrix and it works. Can't say the other stuff didn't work as good though.

I use bioballs lol. Ive not had any issues keeping up with bio. I added Matrix just to experiment for denitrifying BB and nitate...the jury is out. Im not holding my breath.

A couple years ago I experimented with Bio Home. Had a C-360 shoved full of it with a Sunsun prefilter so I didn't have to disturb the media in the canister. Dialed it back to about 100 gph with a ball valve. Ran it for about 8-12 months. Saw no noticeable difference in nitrates.

Knowing what I do now, I'd probably just go with matrix and/or pot scrubbies considering the value. That is, if I didn't already have a crapload of overpriced media that'll last me two lifetimes hahaha
