I doubt it. I am clueless as to where Vincent is coming from. I thought, perhaps foolishly, I can tell smaller baby Brachies from 3" and on almost without problems, perhas except vaillantii but I'd not confuse the vaillantii with any other Brachie, only with other catfish.
