One of these canister filters are going into my 125 gallon. They will be complimenting a Fluval 406. It needs to be absolutely silent. If I'm paying a few hundred bucks for a filter this needs to be necessary. It needs to have good media capacity. It needs to be durable. It shouldn't leak. It also needs to be able to filter a fully stocked 125 gallon on its own in case the other filters malfunction.

I'm leaning towards the Eheim 2080, but I heard it leaks.

Price is not an issue at the moment. I know I can get the 2260 as well, but I want actual media trays and not a giant bucket with a pump.

2262 is the most durable as well as the most versatile. I have two of them and I find them to be completely silent. One is in the living room and if there was any noise my wife would make me get rid of it. If you ask what to put in it you will get 500 different responses. That is what makes it so versatile.

Anyone have experience with the 2080? I know you guys recommend the 2080 but I want something with a newer design and media trays. The options are in the poll.

I have a fx6 on my 720 liter for 6 months , good water flow, silent and very easy to clean, no problems I have never tried a eheim so cannot comment.

The Eheim 2075 & Rena XP4 (XL) give me all the flexibility & redundancy I need on my 125g. In addition for extra backup are (2) AC 500's that I can quickly swap out to quarantine tank if necessary.

i have 4 eheim 2180's which is basically the 2080 with built in heaters. Never a problem with any of them. all 4 running right now and dead quiet. Easy to set up and even Easier to maintain. I must admit to being kind of a Eheim fanatic, but that is due to the fact of there excellent reliability and versatility. An example of that is i am currently running a 28 year old model 2034 which was a big ugly gray plastic bucket with a motor on it. you know what. been plugged in since 1987 and hasn't missed a beat.
