I hate fluval canisters, love there HoB line, best HoB out there IMHO.

jay wilson on youtube did a video about the sunsun 404b, he said it worked just as well if not better then his fx6 for a quarter of the price. I bought a sunsun 404b for my 125 and it does a damn good job after you stuff it full of ceramic rings. its very very quiet, buy 2 along with some ceramic rings and I think you'll be more then impressed. I've done a ton of research on them and they truly are a quality product. only thing I dint like was the ****ty handle on top that I don't use.

2080 is not great at mechanical filtration.
But it's great on bio.

Best way is to buy 2260/2262 if u have money.
Nothing can beat up 40years old classic filter. :)
If u wanted to spend less money just buy fx6.

I have had two fx5's on my 265 - I absolutely hated cleaning them. Ringing out the 12 sponges took forever. Those trays were nasty - it was a nightmare. Then I saw the light - Eheim 2262 - WOW - if you want the best filter on the market just get a 2262. I have 2 one them on the 265. Once a month a pop the lid and change out the filter floss and purigen packs. Every 4 months I do a complete cleaning which takes 20 mins per filter! They are so easy to clean. Filter trays are a waste of space. I have all my bio media in a giant filter bag, one 3" 10ppi piece of porett foam and 5 liters of efimec. I rise out the porett, then the efimec and then done - put it back together... DONE!

Hope this helps...

when 2080 is good for bio and mechanical. the prefilter sponge is a phenomenal addition and there's not much more you need. a few fine filter pads on the first and maybe second tray and then your good to go. sure it doesn't have the massive fx5 sponges but it doesn't need them. I'd go with the 2080

I have two 2080 filters. 1 x 2262 can kill both :D
2 x 2262 is like day and night.....
