which Cannister for 55g around $150?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can probably get an EHEIM-2217 on sale from an online aquarium store.

I've had good experience with Drfosterandsmith.com, I've ordered from them 4 times.

If you can get an XP3 for $110, go for it !

Taken from Site:

XP3 FilStar Canister Filter, CK-907364
$109.99
350 GPH

Thanks Alexmuw, that was a great find. F&S has 2 XP3's listed on their website, they seem the same in every way except the price. The one I found was around $160, so I searched some more and found the one you were referring to for 109.

http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3602 lists xp3 at $157

http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3602&prodid=6139&catid=113 lists xp3 at 109.

Anyone know what the extra $50 is for?

Edit: I ordered the $109 one this morning, hopefully I'll have it by next week and start to see some crispier water. The Cascade is leaving way too much suspended particulate in the water, even though its fully loaded with clean floss. I want crispy!

go with ehiema, i have a rena xp2 right now great filter just set my tank back up after changing to sand but the 300 gph is not enuf 4 my 55 but it does a great job but 2 much work so im going with the ehiema 1242 or somthing like that it filters 1200 gph and it has a 2 gallon canister and the price is worth saving a little more money 2 get

sry its the eheim 1217 only 160 at petsmart id get that 4 your 55 10 bucks more and you get a 2 gallon canister, 1264 gph, 209 gph filtration circulation its 8"x 18" and it cal handle a tank up to 159 gallons what more do u want for the low price of 160 and they now carry in store, well down here they do

I ordered the Rena XP3 for $109 from drfosterandsmith which has a 350 gph flow.

I have a pretty unique situation though. My stand is only 21" tall exterior. Its made of 3/4 ply, which makes it 19.5" tall inside. That limits me to cannisters 17" tall. The Cascade in there currently is 17" and its *really* tight.

The XP3 is 15" tall according to specs listed on amazon, it also has shorter hardware and more flexible tubing so I'm hoping it'll be a little easier to service in that confined space.

Magnum 350! If you possibly could squeeze the pro system's bio wheels under your canopy it would be well worth it. $112

It's a secret. They're both the same.
