I have a true parrot and I don't think it looks like one though..... but it can be.... the shape is quite a bit different than that of a parrot...but than agin it can change.. so the only way to know for sure is to just let them grow.....

I had one too but the babys look different. The head shape/ what looks like red line dorsel throws me off.. I guess it could be anything but my guess for now I guess..

my true parrot has his dorsal and his anal fin outlined in red at the edges...

I just thought about it and it looks like a barred Midas to me now..

well for sure ill be updating the photos as they grow! I need to know what these are.

iam thinking mybe a bared midas? b/c today i noticed a little teritory fight between one of the mystery fish and my festae, and the mystery fish was showing some vertical lines, but then faded away.

mybe Jeff Rapps can give it a shot since alot of fish go threw his hands mybe he will have a better idea, mybe even with some supporting pics.

doesnt really have the shape of a barred midas..my god..i've never been this confused on a cichlid before..

maybe its a hybrid..

Looks like a juvie RD/Midas to me. Maybe it'll go red/orange, maybe not.
My 3 RD/Midas fry (who look primarily RD) looked just like this when I bought them, one of them didn't go orange till almost 6".
Two of my midas were barred when I got them and they're both O forms - one of them is just starting to change color at 3".
I've been able to tell only subtle differences between the two and that would be that the "rd's" pattern when young is emphasized on the lateral spots in the middle of the bars, the bars fade or get bolder with mood. The lateral spots are usually more easily seen.
On my midas their bars were bars. Even though I could see the the lateral spots in the middle of the bars they were never much more obvious than the bars themselves.
That's just something Ive noticed though, could be coincidence.

Maybe it does have some FH blood in there or is a hybrid of Amphilophus x whatever but IMO it just looks like a juvie RD/Midas.
