Heya!

I have a feeling I will buy a new tank very soon and want to stock it with something that breeds - and guppies just arent that fun... and I dont want another Oscar.

So Im wondering what species makes for different types of FH, and is there a way to sex any of these at a young age? Wouldnt wanna end up with just two fish fighting.

My first noob-intuition tells me that a pearl cichlid and a red terror would make a nice fish, but the size diff is so large..

any help appreciated!

Flowerhorns aren't jsut hybrids, they are a very certain, somewhat secret mixture that has made a unique style of fish.

I don't mean to be rude, but judging by your tone, I would suggest you do alot of research and reading before you jump into anything.

i agree, but a few of the possible cichlids that make up a flowerhorn are texas cichlid, trimac, and midas/red devil.

i agree too. first gen fh's have alot of trimac in them. and some of them do not have kok (bump on the head), but the newer generation fh has bigger kok and more attractive colors IMO.

synspilum, parrot, trimac, texas, festae. i think.
