Which company puts out the best canister filter?

I'm currently running 2 emperor 400's on my 55 gal SA chiclid tank and 1 emperor 280 on my 27 gal hex gold fish tank. The gold fish are too dirty for the emperor 280 and i'm finding myself doing twice the amount of maint on the 27 than I am on the 55. I was kicking around the idea of upgrading my filtration systems. What is a good brand of canister filter? Long time ago i had a fluval 303 on a tank and had no problems. Thought about going with Rena XP series or sticking with Marineland.

You opened up a can of worms. You're going to get lots of different opinions. The Rena's are good. The Eheims are the best IMHO.

Well I got a penn Plax cascade 700 pretty reliable and quiet. Though when I was researching everyone said eheim classic is the by far best. But I didn't have the money for it.

i run a fluval fx5.i like it had a couple other fluvals liked them.had some mag 550s hated them

For a 27 Gallon i would definetely go with Eheim but if you dont have the buget for it Rena XP or Fluval would still do a great job. Good luck

lol i was fine with a fluval dont care much about mechanical filtration
