Which filter is right for

Yeah of course I've heard praise and criticism of their canisters -- I'd love get something like a Eheim Pro but just don't have the dosh atm after paying for this tank plus 2 Asian Arowanas.

But what do you mean tanked bro -- just stopped working or something more catastrophic like a leak?

Just heard a loud grinding noise in the middle of the night. By the time I walked to the tank from my room it stopped. I touched the too and it was very very hot. The pump went out I feel and heated the water inside it along with the gunk in it. I will say it was due for a cleaning, was going to clean it the next day actually. So, maybe maintenance is required more heavily on them, idk. Just after that experience I'm not using their brand further.

Don't blame you after your experience, I'm usually the same way with brands but the 704a (new, still in box) is all I have at the moment canister-wise so am going to give it a try -- and likewise hoping the pre-filter I posted about earlier will help prevent the issue you experienced. Murphy's Law though it happened right before you going to clean it!

I usually run both. I like the water movement you get with you run a canister along with HOB filters.
