Yesterday my filter was acting up again and released water from the tank all over the house, and this is the second time this has happend, so my dad was talking to me this morning and he was like we have to get rid of this filter, and get a new one. So i was wondering which filter would u recommend for a standard 120 gal tank which houses 2 Pbass and 2 Common Plecos, a and JD. Right now the filter was a Magnum 350 Pro with the biowheels ect... thanks for all help in advanced!

Hi! Maybe you would like to try out a cannister filter or two depending on how much you fish poops. If price isnt of much concern Eheims would be good and if you are looking for something budget you could try some of the china brands like Atman which has pretty good products and quality control.

(PS: second hand Eheims are good stuff as well as they last for very long.)

budget wise id figure somthing not to outragous in price, are the XP3's good for this size tank?

1 XP3 will not cut it. They dont have enough power. I would just get 2 AC110s and be done with it:)

The aquaclear 110 or 500 same thing if u go to petsmart web site they got a printable cupon to get it for 39.99 and on mfk we got a tutorial on how to add biowheels if u want.

I agree. I've tried all sorts of filters in my day but keep going back to the Aqua Clear 500 (110). They have the least moving parts to fail and are a joy to take care of! Unlike canisters that do a decent job but who looks forward to ripping them down and scrubbing every piece and putting it all back together and hoping it all jives so you don't have to rip it all apart again...I hate that. Or my favorite...Extra parts... Jeesh..Get an Aqua Clear and everyone/fish will be happy!

fluval fx5 with ac110.... you can never have too much filtration, especially with pbass
