Which Filter To Buy?? Help!!

If the man wants a canister filter, let's offer some advice on CANISTER FILTERS!

I think a used rena xp3 would be good if you can find it in your price range...
Found a new one on ebay starting at $100 that you should be able to win no problem:

Other than that, in your price range, you could could for a Fluval 404 or maybe a 405, but the smaller fluval canisters have SOME bad reviews, and some good ones as well.

Eheim has a great reputation in canisters, you would not go wrong getting one from everything I have ever heard... I don't know the comparable model to a rena xp3 but one of these eheim guys can hop on here and recommend a model. The thing with them is that you pay a little more. There are deals to be found everywhere though!

So... Rena, Eheim, and possibly a fluval, would be my recommendations as a starting point for more research on your part!

Don't chance a used filter, leaking seals and missing adapters will drive you insane.
I'd recommend it anyway, but if you're new definately get the Rena XP3.

I know you want a canister, but I do suggest looking in the DIY section about sumps.
Much better than a canister and price wise, not too bad. The pump is the most expensive part. Look into it before you make a decision.

Eheim 2217 and call it a day, so silent you will need to look for water movement to make sure its still working.

Eheim FTW cant go wrong with eheim. The 2217 is $129 on kensfish.com. my advice is raise your price range a bit and you will be satisfied.
