which filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would just use what you have thats more than enough filtration for the bioload you have

unless you just feel like spending more money
than get another penquin and scrap the whisper

but you do not want to overdo filtraion.

Is that even possible?

yes it is
I disagree with that XR.
No, it is not possible to over-filter a tank with mech/bio medias.
Over circulate/too much current, yes.

You could have 4 AC's and a Eheim ProIII and not be over filtered, your BB colonies would be the same size as with just two AC's so your biological is the same no matter what.
Your mechanical on the other hand is out of this world. :WHOA:
Even if you start adding various chemical medias, you don't do more than waste money. :screwy:

I ask you to explain your conclusion on this, please.

which canister would u add onto my 75 if it were urs.I already have 1 whisper 60 and a penguin 350.should i replace my whisper with a emp 400,or should i go with the ac 500.the only fish in the tank is a rd.does this sound like to much for one fish.what are the benfits of having alot of filteration
I would dump the whisper and Peng.
I would use two of my bio-wheel/spraybar modified AC110's, which would be more than enough mech/bio.
If I thought I had to have a Canister filter, then I'd add either a Cascade1500 or a Rena XP3... Always go big.

For what I might spend on new HOB's/canister, I'd be looking at W/D sump for just a few $$$ more.

Over filtered... No such thing.
Foolishly spent money... Just ask B. Bailey

i have two 3'' oscars in a 45 gallo tank and have an emperor 800 for a 80 gal tank . the water is perfect.:headbang2

I've never heard of a EMP 800.... :confused: 280 & 400, yes, but a 800, no.
I haven't heard anything about Marineland coming out with a new EMP model.

Just curious if you aware of the inadequacy of that tank for either of those O's as adults?
1 = 55gal, prefer 75gal
2 = 75gal, prefer 100gal

I used to have two whisper 5 (old model, now called 60) on my 75 an that kept it spotless. I like the AC110 (500) now though.

Id say if you going to replace one filter, Buy a AC 110.
