hi, I have one 7inches- parrot cichlid in a 52gals tank, and I`d like to know how many cichlids, and which fish is better to live with my parrot.
thanks:thumbsup:

you could probabbly get some tin foil barbs, or another parrot. and maybe a kissing gourami or some tetras maybe

trust me, 6 months from now, and you will have changed the parrots for something else... eheheh notice how they can't even close their mouths... lol no ofense

it's just what happends to most people who own them.

My parrots are in with my RD JD a cat and a pike. I havent had any problems with them except when the cat tried to eat one of them:ROFL: but he was too big and the cat let him go.

i had a cichlid tank set up for about a year and a half with three blood parrots, three turquoise severums, one firemouth cichlid, and a synodontis catfish. they all got along really well. i loved the parrots. sooooo personable. i could take a handful of krill and theyd swim right into my hand and sit there and eat it off. one turned bright orange, another more of a red and the third one ended up being a nice chocolate color (not sure if he never colored or what, but he was cool). this was in a 47gallon def just a grow out tank. i recently gave them to a guy i work with cuz he has a bigger tank and they still get along great even with some clown loaches and keyholes.

thanks everybody.
I think I`ll put one RD,
and, filliportela, I have my parrot since august-2005, and I love this fish.
It lived with some convicts, but now it`s alone and I want a "friend" to live with it
.

I'd hold off on the RD for now. Your tank seems large, but it really isn't for a large rd. If they don't get along you could lose the blood parrot in a hurry because it has nothing for weapons when compared to a rd. I'd stick to a decent sized Severum, something like that. RD's usually get nasty when they hit 5-6". If you had kept them together since they were young, it may have worked out well (is that what you did cichlidsavage?), perhaps that is what others have done. But I'm sure you like your parrot a lot, and I'd hate to see you get a nasty RD and have it hurt your prized friend. If you're thinking new world cichlids for tank mates, I'd stick to the safe choice, a severum, or some of the smaller cichlids that FreeNinety9 suggested.

i would go with either firemouths or convicts. a RD could destroy your parrot at any given time, and 52g probably depending on the demensions of the tank not big enough for a full grown RD by its self. you could try a blue acara maybe.

hello,I`ve changed my ideas.I think i`ll put 1 male convict(that can breed with the female
parrot) and 3 firemouth. What do you think?
thanks:thumbsup:
