which fish is better to live with parrrot fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i'm not sure a convict would breed with a parrot. i would just go with a firemouth and a convict. the tank might look empty now but when you start adding these fish you will find you are out of room a lot sooner then you think.

i agrre with welsher a firemouth and convict would probably mate not tht sure . i dont see how a parot can mate with a convict srry.

I`ll put only one convict fisrt, and then 3-4 months I can put one firemouth, because I
already have the convict, so I don`t need to buy, and if they fight, I can return the convict to the other tank.
do you agree??
thanks

Vinicius,

I have several South American/ Central American cichlids living with my parrot... Including Aequidens tetramerus, Cichlasoma urophtalmus, Hypselecara temporalis, Vieja synspila and a "jaxas" (texas x JD hybrid). And some black-barred SDs, along with several cats and plecos. Just avoid the more agressive species.

Best regards.

Daniel.

I disagree... I've seen several pics of a black con x BP batch of fry, from a fellow of Aquahobby.com, and there are no more fishes in his tank, except for the male con and the female BP.

Best regards.

jellybean parrots came from breeding female blood parrots to male pink convicts so yes, the BP's and cons can definitely breed together. :) now wether they will or not is another story. :)

Yea, there was this female 9" RD that killed two 10" parrots and a 10" pleco in a 90g tank.

Since it was then jsut the female, I donated my male RD who was 7" to the tank. Guess what. My 7" male killed the female overnight. Don't mix parrots and RDs :)
