Hey. I have decided that I need to get rid of one or two of my fish. But for right now Im thinking of only one. I cant get my ammonia levels down and the tank is to small. Its between my 6 inch rtc or 10inch clownknive. I know catfish make a ton of bio-waste but he doesnt eat that much. Now my clowknive can eat a lot! Which fish would you get rid of?

I would get rid of the rtc because he will get waaaayy bigger than he probably is right now and he probably has the biggest bio load

Uhhhh.......Get rid of both if the tank is too small. You should never have ammonia spikes if your tank is 1.) cycled, 2.) the correct size and 3.) you do water changes. Both of your fish get massive and you should get rid of both of your fish especially if they're in too small of a tank now and they're not near full grown.

Easy choice, rtc :thumbsdow Unless you plan on upgrading to a 500g+ it will out grow any tank you presently own. Move it now while it's still small and sellable.

I would get rid of them both, but I am not a big fan of nocturnal fish. I like my fish to be active when I can see them. If I had to pick one, I prefer the RTC. You gotta love the white belly. A Clownknife is pretty cool, but their weird mouth gets on my nerves...just like parrot fish.

im the same way with parrots... i HATE them lol

back to the OP

unless you have several thousand bucks at your disposal to get a custom tank/pond built for the RTC, that's what you need to get rid of. If you do, more power to you lol

It is a 46 gal.

You need to get rid of both of them, as well as the lima shovelnose and silver aro, and any other fish you have.

A) Those fish get way to big for a 46.

B) Your tank is still cycling, it would be better for the fish to get rid of them until you get readings of 0 ppm Ammonia, 0 ppm Nitrites, <20 Nitrates
