which gymnogeophagus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any of the gymnogenys group would work well. The body shape is quite different from the rhabdotus. I have paso pache II (rhabdotus) and quilero (gymnogenys) plus some balzanii in my 75, they are all doing great.

gymnogeophagus gymnogenys yerbalito are what they were labeled as ....is there any reason for asking this i am curious now

"I like the gymnogeny Quilero the best but that is just a personal preference. I would just look through them on aqvaterra.com and see which you like best and then see if you can find someone that has some for sale. Just as an FYI if you see something getting sold as gymnogeny yerbalito it is the same as quilero." :):):):)

The Gymnogeophagus gymnogenys you have are from "Arroyo Yerbalito", but the common name is "Quilero"

I was just curious :) This seems to be a problem lately with the Gymnos and the trade names that are being used.

They are both mouth brooders, but, Gymnogenys and Labiatus are two seperate species. Hopefully Felipe will correct me if I am wrong, that way, I will know too :naughty:
