Which one would you take?

Should add that this tank will be in my living room and must be appealing. I see slight potential in both, moreso in the 55 (stand looks sturdy) but I want to know what YOU think.

I live in Canada, and keep in mind prices are a bit more up here. I really wish I could find a tank for $1 a gallon, but around here, quite doubtful :(

I would wait, the 40g does not have a proper stand and I think you could get a better deal on a 55g. What type filtration does each have? This could be a big factor in price, a good canister will be worth much more then a UG filter for example.

much better deals out there. alot of people pick up 55's and under for free if not a few bux, i personally would skip on both.

Both prices are way up there, even if they were new!!!MAybe the first package is cool, but wait for something bigger....If your budget is around $200, and you are looking at small tanks, buy a new one.....Save more money by building a stand out of cinder blocks....San Francisco price for a brand new 55 is $55....How much does a 55 cost in Canada$$$$

Overall prices up here are higher, these are both considered "good deals" and were sent to my by a friend on a different forum, its hard to find a tank over 10 gallons cheap. The problem with building a cinder block stand is that my "new tank" will be going in my living room and should look very appealing. I was leaning towards the 55 because the stand looks decent shape.

Given you know what a fair price in your neighborhood is and those are decent deals to you I'd go with the 55g.. it's more useable space as well as will have more demand if one day you sell it. Even if you buy the 40g for what they want and build a stand it would put you at about what that 55g is. Might even see when you look at it if you can get them down to $150.00, you never know.

I voted before reading.. I thought the poll was to trade a 50 for a 175.. sorry take my vote off for 50 for 175 and put me down for wait for a better deal.

skip both of them... try looking for more of a breeder style tanks.... the 18" deep makes a world of difference
