Which is better the fluval fx5 or the rena filstar XP4

I have both. The FX5 is a better filter. The XP4 is easier to clean.

I got an Fx5 & a Rena Xp3...from my situations I've had with both, I'd go with the Fx5 still, handles more & it's alot easier to drain & re-start up again, and I got about twice the media in the Fx5 than the Rena

i have only had fx5 but if you have sand as substrate it can sit on the bottom of the canister and make it quite noisy, the rena has the impeller at the top so sand would not be a problem.
