In response to the person who said Green Sevrum.

Not the most popular choice, but I have one that rules a 180 gal tank with a GT, 2 JD's, Oscar, Firemouths, and various dithers. He is currently kicking the butt of a 6" Jag that I recently added. The Jag has not submitted yet, but he has a cut on his head and missing scales.

in my experience i say convicts. i had 2 in convicts. they beat my 12 in texas , 13 in oscar, 8 in jd, 8 in red devil, 13 in pacu, kill a 6 in pleco, and a 7 in red O. :(
altought i think you can not really apreciate the full agression of a fish if its kept on a tank alone lol .
i have to say tougth, that when i moved my texas by himself, he will atack me when i came close to the tank open its mouth wide open and seemed he just wanted to come througt the glass and kill me. got big bites when i cleaned the tank he was a crazy mad fish, he only run from the convicts lol im so sad hes gonne now :(

i havent had a dovii, but its hard to think that pound for pound it would be more aggressive than a convict. its easy to be aggressive when you are bigger than everyone else. i think its completely different when a fish will dominate other fish double its own size. thats why i say convict.

I'd have to say Jags. Had a mating pair. No eggs due to overcrowddedness but the male killed the female afterward(didn't know anything about how to care for these). He was one bada** SOB. Really have your tankmates at slim pickings with these guys.

But really sometimes I think that it matters who was in the tank first. I could of took my Jag and put it in with my buddies Red Devil and the RD would kill the Jag and it would of been the other way around if I put the RD in the Jags tank.

Sorry to throw hybrids in the mix, but the Red Monkey/Red Syn flowerhorn is the most aggressive bar none. I had 2 Dovii and they aren't as aggressive as made out to be. My smaller Trimac and Flowerhorn were too much for them and had to be moved to a different tank. One Dovii bit the dust and my other Dovii is healing nicely now. I have other various CA/SA cichlids, but they are too young to tell on aggression.

I've never had a dovii or an umbee but have had most of the fish mentioned in this thread. Pound for pound winner is the neetroplus nematopus. Festae would be #1. I had a ten inch male that attacked everything (successfully), including a 13'' managuense (which is no slouch either). Festae's and red devils are genetic gladiators. They are mean and extremely gifted at it. I would say thet are more ''athletic'' then the jags and dovii. Combine this with the Festae's size and demeanor, that makes them # 1.

Another top 3 choice in my opinion. I have a festae that had to go solo in its own tank. Fast and hyper aggressive. I have 3 Jags and they aren't that aggressive. Don't get me wrong they don't take much smack, but they don't love to fight like many of the amphorillus line, excluding the lyonsi.
