i use nothing but braided lines. 4lb diameter with 12 lb strengh. cant beat em.

you obviously don't fish in all conditions, or are not a very experienced fisherman, braid floats, and is highly visable, there are so many situations fisherman come across where braid is not the correct line to use.

i use braid in murky water for top water lures like frogs, and where the under water cover is so dense with tree's and rocks, that there is no other choice.

it's all depends on conditons and what type of lure your throwing and what your fishing for, clear water and a senko- thin mono, or floro.

the obvious questions to ask- what model and type of baitcaster are you going to be useing, on what rod. all baitcasters have different needs in line, smaller low profiles- thin line, Big honking round abu garcia 6500 C3's- BIG line.

and what are you fishing for.

FYI- i fish tourney's for LMB's and SMB's...

i fish both clear and stained. i use in order from most often to least: plastic worms/jigging, spinner baits, top water, then mostly shallow crank. i want a line that would be ok for all of these situations.

do you have different baitcasters for each of these lures, or are you just useing one as an ALL lure Rod?

Experienced fisherman use different rods with different specifications for all there lures-

different blanks- fiberglass, graphite.- backbone..

different lengths- 6-8'

this is assuming you have custom rods^^

i also use Loomis and St.Croix, that were made for different situations, but not to my specifications..

the list goes on, all these factors vary with rods, for hookset and sensitivity for feeling bites, and what will work best in what situation.

cast as far as you can then pull off ten or fifteen feet.Take a piece of tape (i use white surgical)and put it on your spool then wind your line back in.Now when you have a backlash in will only be to that piece of tape and not your whole spool. If your happen to have a fish that runs on you the piece of tape comes right off.As for what lb. test i would use 10 lb. switching only if i started to lose some fish. as i said earlier conditions will dictate what lure line and presentation you would use. When i fish i have at least five rods on deck rigged with different lures and line. Good Luck and tight lines

not all braided line float. maybe you should look into some of the different brands nowadays.

i just use one rod, well i have a spinning rod as well i guess i could use that to. im pretty experienced at fishing in general but i dont fish tournys or anything so i dont really have a need for multiple setups nor could afford it. but the current setup i have now is a Bass Pro Johnny Moris jmp10h on a Cabelas Pro Guide IM6 casting rod (6' 6" fast action medium heavy), and i know mixing bass pro and cabelas, lol i had 2 gift cards, 1 to each place. so right now i have trilene xt 10lb. i think im going to try that and see how it goes

I never knew fishing was that complicated. I use 4 lb test trilene maxx, but all I ever fish for is trout at our local lake. I use a double hooked leader with either powerbait or air injected worms.

it doesn't have to be, myself and many friends fish tourney's all over the country, and are VERY into the Hobby/sport. and if you are that deep in it, you have to know what your doing and what to throw when...

most guys here are just plain recreation here and there on occasion.

yeah im mostly just rec. but i would love to fish some tourneys. i absolutely love fishing. im a high school sr so im look at a school for next year and i really like MSU and right after i determined that they have what i wanted school wise i looked for places to fish near it. lol

I like Ultragreen monofilament. It is not very visible, reasonably thin, and has very little memory compared to other monos.
