which loach is active, does not hide a lot and gets to a good size?

I will, they seem to be a very common fish but no lfs around me has them, I will have to see if their is a place online where I can buy them.

One more question-Will different species of loaches school together because I really like clown loaches, yoyo loaches, skunk botias and burmese border loaches. I was thinking like 3 of each would look great!

Tiger loaches there not the most active fish the ones i saw moved around a good amount but they get good sized and look great

Tiger loaches will limit your stocking options which is the downside. Do not attempt to mix them with any loach species including clown loaches other than the Yasuhikotakia modesta, Yasuhikotakia morleti, Yasuhikotakia eos, all other members of Syncrossus genus and many other aggressive loaches.

Stingray, you are counting the skunk loaches in your plan. Do not be deceived by their diminutive size and cute appearance. You will learn how much trouble a lot of loachaholics including me have gone through just catching them after causing so much troubles for the clowns, yoyos and other botiidae loaches.

To make matters much easier to understand, I will list down the following that are aggressive thus will not make good community fish, not even with the clown and yoyo loaches.

3. Syncrossus helodes
4. Syncrossus hymenophysa
5. Syncrossus reversa
6. Laotian tiger loaches (size is unknown)
7. Yasuhikotakia eos
8. Yasuhikotakia caudipunctata
9. Yasuhikotakia lecontei
10. Yasuhikotakia longidorsalis
11. Yasuhikotakia modesta
12. Yasuhikotakia morleti

those will mix fine minus the skunks. i have clowns yoyo, and border loaches together and they are doing fine. skunks tend to be aggressive

I have a school of 7 clown loaches that range from 3 1/2" to 7" and they are very active and extremely funny to watch even when resting as they like to lie on top of each other and have adopted the BGK as one of their own. They will all crowd into his favourite cave and sleep all squashed up together. They don't call them clowns for nothing.

same here, i have nine and 5-8 of them are always out. My biggest clown seems to hide more and the smallest is the most active
