The wood won't fit in there with the rocks in there there's a long peace that goes under the sand and its about as wide as the tank

I like the 1st setup the wood looks like it belongs in a SA/CA tank.

I really like the rounded river rocks in the second pic but for me the wood just does not belong in an African tank. Firstly there is little to no wood in the Rift Lakes and secondly you want your water to be as hard as possible and any type of wood with soften the water. I would go with the rounded river rocks just add more of them.

This is however just my opinion, it is your tank and you should have it as you wish

I cut the wood off a tree at the river it's roots I think I'm going to plant some jungle Val's right on the middle of the rock piles or kinda where the plant is in there now
