Nay, Syn is beating flowerhorn there as well, by a mile.
@OP: Both are really nice fish, but Syn is just wayyyyy better. Even if the FH has personality, still not worth it. Syn is still way better. XD Not saying purebreds are better than hybrids in general or vice versa, a fish' attractiveness doesn't depend solely on it being a purebred or a hybrid but... in this case the purebred wins out.

Keep the one without the tumor on its head... I've never understood what people find appealing about that. (no offense intended). Maybe the same reason I don't like dogs that look like they've been run over by a steam roller (pugs, bulldogs etc.) 
No difference. Syn is still the winner. It is an absolute beaut. Compared to it, the FH is very 'meh'. Even if the FH has personality. Syn is just that nice, in all honesty. I don't normally keep Paraneetroplus species but I'd jump on that instantly.
@Wulfonce: Lol I agree, I don't like the nuchal humps (which is why I keep mostly female Americans (which works out nicely in terms of size and aggression, actually)). But hey, if people like those nuchal humps, more power to them. XD Whatever floats one's boat.
On the other hand, I do hate (keeping) dogs, even the cute or cool ones. Maybe there's something wrong wimme.
