which of these fish should i get?

raphaels are incredibly boring.. mine disapears for weeks at a time. i wouldnt worry about it outgrowing the tank... ever though. its going to get 8" long at the largest, and that will be YEARS away.

im going to make his cave so that i will always be able to see at least part of him. right now there are only 2 tiny spots where my fish can hide without being seen, and they are dominated by the clown pleco.

i dont mind that theyre nocturnal. and, theres a high possibility that ill go with the knife and gourami, just to get more activity in the tank.

Try the old ghost tube trick for cryptic bottom dwellers. Just put a clear plastic tube in the tank, and they might very well hide in it...and they get the security they desire, while you can still see them. I have a tiny one in my 5g, which is actually the extension tube from a cheap syphon, and not only do my Ottos and Cory love to hide in it, but for some reason it cultivates algae beautifully.
