Which one would do well with cichlids

i'd say that the dovii and umbee may be to much for bichirs unless you use dithers then mabye

look for endli or congicus plenty of people have kept big bichirs with large aggressive cichlids in large ponds or tanks i'd say you have a shot but it would depend ont the large cichlids

that senegal was more of a victum of predation then aggression i don't think the oscar was just trying to kill it but was just hungry nun the less with aggressive cichlids it is totally possible for them to kill a bichir should they chose to do so

What if I purchased a large bichir and grow him out with a school of T-Barbs would that help. I really like the endi bichir by the way what is the largest growing bichir-since that would in my mind make sense to get

The largest growing species you're likley to encounter are P.e.endlicheri and P.e.congicus

in a pond that big,i doubt there will be problems.
just get a few large bichirs like endlis,congicus,ansorgii etc.
