Ornates get more monster sized, and have unique pattern. Ornate's pattern don't fade away. the picture MCphisy showed the big ornate- it was probably in a light substrate.

I love the body pattern on ornates Hao, but all pictures of adult ornates I see have faded body patterns. The baby ornate pic has white gravel and it has the pattern.

Another adult ornate:

Body pattern is all gone. If the ornate could keep that beautiful body pattern I would go with ornate, but sadly it fades away...

How big is "Adult"? 20"+?
My 17" Ornate-does my ornate have faded body pattern?

11"-12" WC Delhezi

My ornate at 12" in black sand

my Ornate at 16" in biege color barebottom

I kinda think your ornate is a bit faded. Your big guy looks monsterous, but the yellow spots are kinda gone. I am really sorry if I am offending you. I just think adult ornates look faded. Adult 18"+

It's all good. :D I say Monster sized Ornate is better than small Ornate. :ROFL:I don't usually look at pattern when it comes to Bichirs, I look at the headshape, body shape, thickness, color. :naughty:
