Which piece of wood looks best?

It is kind of hard to see what the first one looks like, (at first glance I thought the rubber boot was a part of the wood)but I think that the 3rd one is the best.

I think it mostly has to do with the color. If you turned the second one upright it might look better.

I don't know who's advice you took, but I would have just gone with the topical cream.
