Which exotic pleco would you recommend for a 40 gallon to be compatible with some african cichlids? (exlcuding ancistrus)

Thanks, but the corydoras wont do well with my cichlids. Different water requirements. Mine are more alkaline, while the cories are acidic, so they won't thrive really well. I just want an exotic pleco in there to make my tank look more exotic plus someone who can clean the tank.

There isnt really a pl*co that meets the water requirements for an african tank. Also why spend the money on an expensive fish when the africans will more than likely remove the eyes of your fish or possibly kill it??

my africans only mess with cichlids, usually the pleco is hiding and everyone ignores them. cant think on one african i wouldn't put a pleco with. now south american cichlids thats totally different

Im just saying that africans have a tendency of doing it. Sometimes it works other times it doesnt. If he can find a pl*co and give it enough hiding places to avoid confrontation, then awesome. Im just saying that i would hate to come through here and see that he spent $70 on a fish only to have it not be able to see anymore.

So yes it does work, i searched and found more than a dozen stories of plecs being kept happily with africans. I think i saw one that said L200 had been bred in higher pH's. And then there were several people who were keeping royals with theirs.

Corydoras and all loricariids come from South america. So if you are wanting to have natural water types, you are out of luck.
