My 6x3x2' tank will be empty soon and I have been thinking what I can do with it and one of the things I have wanted to do for years is try and dedicate a tank to a species of plec that I have kept over the years but only as specimens with other fish. The interest would be to see a pseuda type plec devoted tank where I could see them interact with their own kind and hopefully /potentially breed.
I havent been able to keep my favourites L25,L24,L600 etc for a few years as they always just end up sucking on my rays or fly river turtle so the prospect is exciting to me.

My favourites are L25 and I do like the L600. I do have a l273 in my sump that I never see but I know is alive

do L25 breed domestically and if not what would you experienced plec breeder guys suggest as an interesting project for me

Thanks

Simon

Sounds like a great project, GL. I don't have experience breeding larger plecos, but my buddy w/ tons of experience breeding small to medium sized plecos recently set up a breeding tank for L097s, one of the smaller, but ime, more territorial pseudacanthicus and hasn't reported any issues.. If you still have specific questions after getting feedback here, lmk and I'll reach out to him.

I have kept or currently keep all the species you mentioned above and ime, L114 and L600 are the fastest growing. Also, while I can keep different pseudacanthicus species together in larger tanks, L097 have been the most aggressive to other pseudacanthicus, followed by L600 / L114. L273 has been the most passive and challenging.. I always have to keep L273 away from any other pseudacanthicus or other territorial species to keep them safe...

GL!
