I have used and had good results with the API aquarium salt also but I am definately liking the sounds of this home depot 40lbs for $5 thing!!!

Have been successfully using solar salt for 10+ years. I can't imagine how much money I've saved.

For most freshwater fish, I don't find salt needed at all, unless it's to aid in a parasite cure.
Although I have been reading lately of maladies caused by iodine deficiency in aquarium fish, and been thinking that old "don't add iodized salt" to be in error.
